With the credibility of the Oscars rapidly declining, there needs to be an award show that reminds people of why they love movies, to be entertained.
There are already awards for best actor and picture, but what about the awards that everyone wishes could actually be presented?
Letterboxd Award Committee
For authenticity, the award committee will be built of top users (most reviews, most followers, most likes on lists/reviews).
They will be the judges, the panel, the talent, and the creators of the award categories.
User-Created Categories on IG
Every Letterboxd user will have the chance to vote for each award in the app.
Winners will be announced live at the event.
In-App Voting
The committee will look to select the most creative and clever curations from users to receive nominations.
The more unexpected = the better.
Inviting Letterboxd users to the event
We want to make the award show accessible to normal people since user-generated reviews are what makes the platform special.

As the guests, users, and nominees begin to arrive, there will be a livestream of the Polka Dot Carpet on TikTok.
